Depending on the strength of the peel, the peels are divided as follows:
Light chemical peel - gentle exfoliators are used, not painful and do not cause scaling.
Superficial peel - not painful and can cause mild superficial scaling.
Medium peel - strong chemical peels provide fast and visible results. Within a couple of days, the skin starts to flake and needs to be restored with special creams.

Questions?
We have answers
How do I know which acid (peel) is right for me?
The right peeling will be chosen for you by a specialist, based on your skin type and concerns. The choice of exfoliation will also depend on your recovery time, work and lifestyle. All of this will be discussed with you by the specialist before the procedure.
What happens to the skin during a chemical peel?
Applying different acids to the skin makes the skin's pH more acidic. As a result, the bonds that hold dead skin cells together are broken. Mechanical exfoliation, as the name suggests, uses blades or brushes to remove dead skin cells. Acid also removes dead skin cells by breaking the bonds between skin cells, but there are more positive effects of acid - such as reducing inflammation or pigmentation, etc.
Is chemical peeling painful?
Most often, you will feel a slight itching and tingling sensation during a chemical peel. Whether the tingling sensation is stronger or not depends on the acidity and the person. The level of pain and sensitivity varies from person to person and is also influenced by the current situation (how tired the person is, women's cycle, etc.).
What is the result of chemical peeling?
The result depends on the type of peel. Superficial acids even out the skin tone, giving it a beautiful glow, skin feels fresher. Superficial and medium peels also have an effect on oil production and reduce inflammation. Depending on the acid, hyperpigmentation and acne scars can be reduced. Pores will also tighten. After a chemical peel, the skin tone is smoother and clearer.
How many procedures need to be done?
It all depends on the specific skin concern and goal. Even after just one procedure, the effect is visible - the skin is brighter and clearer. Of course, a course of procedures always gives a better result. We definitely recommend a course of treatment for acne and hyperpigmentation concerns.
Is there always skin flaking after peeling?
With very superficial peels, flaking is very rare. Mild to moderate skin flaking may occur with medium peels. After the procedure, it is important to moisturise the skin with a special moisturising cream and to avoid active ingredients (acids, strong cleansers etc).
It is also possible to not peel at all. If this occurs, you will still benefit from the treatment because the skin has exfoliated microscopically.
Is peeling for everyone?
Superficial chemical peels can be performed on all skin types, including dry and sensitive skin. Exfoliation is not performed in the case of active skin inflammation or disease. There is a wide range of acids available and the exact course of the procedure will be explained by a specialist after they have seen your skin.
Are chemical peels dangerous for the skin?
Chemical peels sound scary, but by having the procedure done in a clinic, under the care of an experienced professional, there is nothing to worry about. Peels are a controlled skin injury. Mild skin irritation is perfectly normal and necessary to improve the condition of the skin. Without knowing the skin types, skin diseases and acids, it is indeed possible to injure the skin.
How do acids used at home differ from those used in the clinic?
Acids designed for home use are much milder to avoid side effects and because home care is designed to be used 1-7x per week. However, the big plus for home care is that the products are used consistently. The acids used in the clinic are stronger and designed to be used no more frequently than 1x a month.
Can peeling be done all year round?
It is advisable to carry out medium peelings in the autumn-winter period when the UV is lower. During sunny periods, the risk of hyperpigmentation after the procedure increases, and regular use of SPF50 protection cream is necessary. Superficial peels can be performed all year round.
What do I need to know before peeling? Do I need to prepare my skin?
The best thing to do is to come in for a consultation first, during which a specialist will examine your skin and recommend the appropriate procedure, as well as explaining home care. In general, for all peels, it is important to avoid excessive UV beforehand, and to use an SPF protection cream at least 2 weeks before the peel. For deeper peels, it is also necessary to use a special product, 2 to 4 weeks before the peel. Alternatively, superficial chemical peels can be done first, followed by deep peels.
How long will the result last?
The result and the longevity of the result depend on the specific skin type and concerns. Lighter peels can be performed every 2-4 weeks, deeper peels every 1-2 months. Results can be maintained/prolonged by regular use of SPF50 protection cream and active ingredients (eg. retinol). A suitable home treatment will be recommended by a specialist.
Is it possible to over-exfoliate the skin?
Absolutely. Too much acid peels break down the skin's protective barrier, leaving it dry, sensitive and shiny. It is also possible to over-exfoliate with home care products. This is why it is essential to consult a specialist to explain the use of acids.
Is there an age limit for chemical peels?
No. The different skin conditions for which chemical peels are indicated can occur at very different ages. We require parental or guardian consent for people under 18 years of age.
