Laser tattoo removal

With FracTAT technology, micro-holes are drilled into the skin using a high energy
fractional ablative laser prior to tattoo removal, which acts as an intracutaneous pressure reliever during subsequent laser treatment. This allows us to treat very deep tattoos, facilitates and accelerates the removal of pigment particles and reduces the risk of side effects and skin damage.

When tattooing, the ink particles are deposited into the dermis layer of the skin by a needle. The body's immune system classifies them as invaders and tries to get rid of them, but because the ink particles are large and deep, the body cannot overcome them and the tattoo remains intact. Modern tattoo removal lasers, however, break down these ink particles into smaller pieces that the immune system can easily break down.

How does the procedure work?

We use the Fotona Starwalker laser to remove tattoos. Its main advantage is its very wide range of settings, which allow for the effective and safe removal of even the most complex multi-coloured tattoos. Multiple wavelengths and the Q-Switched laser system allow it to send a very short light pulse directly through the top layer of the skin into the deeper dermis, where it is absorbed only in the selected pigmentation and leaves other tissues undamaged. The laser has the advantage of a very uniform, powerful and wide beam that can treat a large area at a time.

  • The procedure is preceded by a consultation where a specialist will take a thorough medical history, inquire about your health, past tan and any medications used.

  • The skin is cleansed before the procedure.

  • In the next step, the specialist sets the appropriate parameters for the laser and sets the cooling machine in operation, which uses cold air to make the procedure more tolerable.

  • To prevent the laser beam from getting into the eyes, special protective goggles are worn during the procedure, as well as earplugs to muffle the sound of the procedure.

  • The specialist will then start the tattoo treatment and, if necessary, treat the skin with different wavelengths and settings.

  • After the procedure, a treatment cream and a patch are applied.

  • You will be more comfortable if you are well rested and not hungry when you come for tattoo removal.

After the procedure

  • Keep the treated skin area clean, even covered with a patch for the first few days, to minimise the risk of infection.

  • Alcohol is not recommended 24 hours before and after the procedure.

Questions?
We have answers

It is as painful to get a tattoo as it is to remove it, but it depends on the depth and darkness of the tattoo. Darker, deeper tattoos are more painful to remove. The procedure is generally tolerable because it takes a short time (1-2 minutes for a smaller tattoo, up to 20 minutes for a larger one). Anaesthesia is not usually used, but pain-relieving cream or injections can be used if necessary. We use a cooling system to cool the skin during the procedure to reduce discomfort and pain.

In most cases, yes. The easiest tattoo to remove is a small black tattoo in one colour, a coloured tattoo takes longer to remove. Removing poor quality ink and some shades can be more difficult (e.g. light blue), but it is possible. Complete removal is rarely difficult due to the ink, the depth of the pigment or the characteristics of the body.

It is not possible to say exactly because everybody is different and so is the tattoo. At the first consultation, a specialist will be able to estimate how many procedures you might need, but they cannot predict how your body will react. In most cases, 3 to 6 procedures will be enough, depending on the age, size, depth and location of the tattoo, the colours used, the density of pigment particles, the presence of scar tissue and your general health.

The exact price depends on the size and colour of the tattoo. We will give you a more detailed answer during your consultation.

Yes, it is. We can also remove part of the tattoo, but please note that the skin must heal completely before a new tattoo can be applied. This will take up to 2 months.
