How does the procedure suit You?

Botulinum toxin injections help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a smoother, more refreshed look.

Wrinkles

How does the procedure work?

Botulinum toxin injections are one of the most popular aesthetic procedures worldwide. The procedure is very fast, effective and relatively painless. The neurotoxin used in aesthetic medicine today is botulinum toxin type A. It blocks certain nerve signals that make muscles contract, reducing unwanted wrinkles.
Nowadays, botulinum toxin is injected in a way that maintains minimal movement - the aim is to achieve a natural, yet more youthful and relaxed look. The procedure is safe for your health as aesthetic medicine uses very low doses of the toxin, and once the effect wears off, the toxin is completely eliminated from the body.

  • The procedure is preceded by a consultation where your specialist takes a thorough medical history, examines your health, previous procedures and medications used.

  • Before the procedure make-up is removed and the area to be injected is disinfected.

  • The specialist will take pictures of the area to be injected, mark the injection sites and using a fine needle inject the toxin into the area to be treated.

  • After the injection, a soothing cream is applied.

  • If necessary, a follow-up appointment will be booked. Follow-up appointments can be made 2-3 weeks after the procedure.

For both women and men with dynamic wrinkles. With botox, it's not the age that matters but the muscle and the resulting dynamic wrinkles that tend to become static over time. Some 25 year olds may have a very strong muscle that gives them a 'frown line' while some 50 year olds have never had a problem.

Botox is just a brand name. There are different brands in aesthetic medicine today - Botox, Vistabel, Dysport, Bocouture, Xeomin. All of them contain the active ingredient botulinum toxin. The biggest difference between brands is the form of botulinum toxin that is used - Botox is made of onabotulinumtoxinA, Dysport is abobotulinumtoxinA and Xeomin is incobotulinumtoxinA. In our clinic we mostly use Dysport botulinum toxin.

The pain associated with Botox therapy is typically minimal, with a majority of patients describing it as a slight pinch or stinging sensation. However, pain tolerance varies from person to person, and some may find the procedure more uncomfortable than others.

Botulinum toxin has been used in medicine for over 30 years and in aesthetics for over 20 years. Although it is a toxin by nature, the amounts used in aesthetics are not dangerous to humans.
Botox is generally safe when administered by a licensed healthcare provider.

Botulinum injections are not physically addictive, the toxin is completely eliminated from the body at the end of the exposure period. It also does not create a need for a new procedure on the skin as it does not stretch the tissues and nothing "pops down" more than before. The wrinkles simply return to their pre-procedure state, in some cases even softening. However, the pleasing aesthetic effect may make you want to experience it again.

Botulinum injections usually do not require a recovery time, it is a so-called 'lunch break' procedure. A slight redness and swelling at the injection site could be expected. There is also a risk of haematoma each time the needle enters the skin, but this is minimal, as a very fine needle is used. You should take care not to plan to exercise or visit the spa on the same day and not to use make-up products (on the injected area).

Side effects from botulinum toxin injections vary depending on the area receiving treatment. Most issues are mild and improve in a day or two. Possible Botox side effects include: Pain, swelling, redness or bruising at the treatment site.

HBotulinum toxin injections take about 2 or 3 days to start working, and 14 days to see the full effect.

Depending on several factors, like metabolism and dosage, results can last between 3-6 months. We recommend coming in on a quarterly basis to maintain your results.
