PDO COG thread lift
COG threads are a bio-degradable, polydioxanone (PDO) suture. It was originally developed as a suture for wound closure material within surgery and is now a preferred material for thread-lifting; this due to its high tensile strength, relatively low complications rate, and ability to be moulded into a variety of shapes.
Using a non-incision method via a cannula, the PDO COG threads procedure is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional face-lifting procedures.

How does the procedure work?
COG threads are used for the lifting of soft, sagging facial tissue. They are also used for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle treatment. Once inserted, COG threads will be absorbed by the body over time, typically around 6 to 8 months. Due to increased collagen production, results can last up to 12 to 24 months. As the suture absorbs in the body, it promotes the production of collagen and elastin in the skin.
Thread lift technology allows to preserve the mobility of the facial muscles and the natural facial expressions, since the procedure targets only the dermal layer of the skin. The procedure is mostly performed to tighten the skin, but the use of threads can correct both congenital and acquired facial asymmetries.
The procedure is preceded by a consultation where a specialist takes a thorough medical history, examines your health, previous procedures and medications used.
Before the procedure, make-up is removed and the area to be treated is disinfected.
Local anesthesia will be applied to the target area. A lidocaine cream or an injection is administered to the area where the thread is inserted.
The specialist then inserts the threads into the skin using a special cannula, and when the cannula is removed, the thread remains in the desired area.
The procedure is followed by the application of a bandage.
If necessary, a follow-up appointment will be booked.

Questions?
We have answers
Why use PDO COG threads?
PDO COG threads are considered the only thread lift that has a double effect:
They provide an immediate physical (mechanical) lifting effect in the treated areas, due to the barbs hooking into the undersurface of the skin.
They provide a biological lifting effect by gradually enhancing the natural production of new collagen leading to skin rejuvenation.
Is COG thread lift painful?
During a thread lift procedure, you receive local anesthesia, so you don't feel a lot of pain. After the procedure, you may experience some pain, discomfort and soreness.
How long does the procedure take?
The duration of the procedure depends on the area we are treating and the number of threads.
Injection anesthesia, used for COG threads, works very quickly. The time it takes to insert the threads depends on how many threads we insert. The procedure usually takes about 15-30 minutes.
Are PDO threads safe and what are the side effects?
PDO threading is a minimally invasive and relatively safe procedure. Common side effects include soreness, bruising and swelling. There may also be some skin unevenness (which is temporary) and if the thread is not inserted to the correct depth, it may protrude.
